Quantitative

Use "Quantitative" when both declarer and dummy are balance (Imagine both are 4333). To be more specific, the distribution on both hands are usually restricted to (4333), (4432) and (5332) So in this case, High Card Point(HCP) is more important than distribution:
  • 13 tricks require 37 HCP (No Ace can be outside)
  • 12 tricks require 34 HCP (No AK in a suit can be outside)
  • 9 tricks require around 25-26 HCP
  • 7 tricks require around 20 HCP
Notes:
  • In general, you can use guideline 1 trick = 3 HCP (2.8 HCP to be more accurate)
  • Do NOT use Quantitative structure if you have a running suit but use control asking instead. (The HCP is less important because no of trick is more important). Use the concept of NTT (No Trump Trick) to do more thorough hand evalution
